I have been looking into if a driving instructor giving paid monies tuition to a pupil in the pupils/parents car  is insured. To my surprise the insurance cover may be rendered invalid as the instructor is running his business through the pupils car. Below is a list of 8 insurers that I contacted ONLY 3 of the 8 will allow paid tuition in the pupils/parents car.

Direct Line NO

National Farmers Union NO

Admiral NO

Lloyds TSB NO

More Than NO

AXA YES

AVIVA YES

Liverpool Victoria (LV) YES

This list is in now way to be taken accurate it is each instructors responsibility to contact each insurance company as required when teaching pupils. J.E.M. Driver Training Limited accepts no responsibly for inaccuracy or changes the above companies make. This to display inconsistency in insurance company policies.

If you are an instructor doing this ensure you check with the pupils insurance company and ensure you tell them you are receiving money for time. If you were to be caught by the Police for such an offence you could lose your ADI badge as no insurance is 6 points on your licence and this could lead to the registrar expelling you form the ADI(car) register.
